WRS Food Trail 2012 @ Zoo
I was ecstatic when I received the invitation to Wildlife Reserves Singapore Food Trail 2012 (Dine with Animals). Thanks to Ellena and Shiting for the company!
WRS Food Trail 2012 is organised in conjunction with the Singapore Food Festival. We will experience various wild dining at the parks and also be brought behind-the-scenes for an exclusive kitchen tour at Night Safari's Ulu Ulu Safari Restaurant, all in the company of Chef Low.
We begin the day’s programme with Jungle Breakfast with Wildlife at Ah Meng Restaurant at Singapore Zoo.
Ah Meng Restaurant (Terrace): Daily 9.00am – 10.30am, $29.00 (Adult), $19.00 (Child 6 - 12 years old). Tel: +65 6360 8511
Articles chronicling the highlights of the late Ah Meng the orang utan's life at the Zoo.
The casual and cosy atmosphere is also perfect for relaxing and watching the orangutan during the morning breakfast with plenty of fresh air and greenery.
The morning buffet offer a good range of western-style and local spread. Did I tell you that this is a halal certified restaurant?
We have about an hour to finish our breakfast before we move on to another programme. So much choice but so little time!!
The savoury pastries and toast.
American breakfast includes scrambles, bacon, french toast, baked beans etc
Local tim sum and bao.
Fresh fruit to start your day healthy.
Watch out for the orangutan family ambling in one by one. It’s an amazing sight to behold!
Get ready your camera to have a photo shoot with the charming apes!
Beside photo with the apes, you can watch out for other jungle friends.
Look out for another wild breakfast guest who’ll be slithering to your neck of the woods for breakfast too!
After breakfast, we head to Fragile Forest and spotted a Malayan Horned Frog.
The body shape and coloration help thie frog to blend in with its forest floor habitat. Well camourflaged, it lies in wait for prey; which includes invertebrates and smaller frogs.
Come up close to Madagascar natives, the ring-tailed lemurs at the Fragile Forest.
After a walks through Fragile Forest, we proceed to behind-the-scenes tour.
Discover how they breed and maintain butterflies.
