We are lucky to be invited for the media tasting to try out their newly launch menu!
Swensen's Pirate's Adventure Kid's Meal
Lads and lasses can choose from seven satisfying main courses and mix and match them with nutritious corn-in-cup; either soft drink or apple or orange juice – with all these being plated up in a Pirate Ship. For an additional small amount of doubloons, kids can score a Treasure Chest sundae or a Coit Tower Junior.

Swensen's Pirate's Adventure Kid's Meal - Chick 'N' Chips @ $8.90
The crispy breaded chicken strips was served with mashed potato and a healthy portion of corn-in-cup.
The tender chicken strips dredged in bread crumbs has a crisp crust on the outside and juicy on the inside. I'm sure any kids will love the tasty chicken!
Swensen's Pirate's Adventure Kid's Meal - Chicken with Homemade BBQ Sauce @ $8.90
Homemade BBQ sauce over steamed chicken breast, served with mashed potato and a healthy portion of corn-in-cup.
Sadly, I didn't get to eat this as I was too busy snapping other food and thereafter I had forgotten to try it! But I must say the homemade sauce was smelling good when I was taking the photo.
Drinks (Cookie Monster & Mango Lychee @ $5.50)
We order some drinks before our main course start.
Zhihao order the Cookie Monster - Shot of espresso blended with cookies 'n' cream ice cream and oreo cookies.
My mango lychee is mangoes and lychees blended into a smooth mix. Can't taste the lychee as the mango was overpowering but you can find a few piece of lychee in the drink.
Crabmeat Fried Rice @ $13.90
Traditional fried rice tossed with crabmeat, diced carrots, Shiitake mushrooms and eggs. Adorned with crispy battered soft shell crab. The fried rice may be simple but certainly brought back memory and make me nostalgic. It's my favourite!
Tuna Ciabatta @ $12.20
Tuna mayo with juicy farm fresh tomatoes, crisp lettuce and onions between grilled ciabatta bread, served with U.S. fries and mixed greens. The tasty tuna toastie will be great for any family lunch or a quick snack.
Swensen’s 88 Chicken Sandwich @ $12.80
Succulent marinated chicken, sautéed to perfection and sandwiched between grilled ciabatta bread with cheese, green peppers and onions, served with U.S. fries and mixed greens.
Laksa Aglio Olio with King Prawns @ $14.90
Spaghetti traditionally prepared Aglio Olio style, but infused with Laksa-flavored pesto, chilli padi and served with succulent king prawns – An adaptation of a local classic dish, this version combines the perfect fusion of East & West flavours.
Spiced King Prawns & Chips @ $16.50
A must-try for crustacean lovers! Golden fried breaded and huge prawns served with U.S. fries and coleslaw. Featuring Swensen’s very own spice battered recipe, the king prawns are deliciously zesty with a crispy texture, a tad dry thou. It will be perfect if there is wasabi mayo dip for the prawns.
The Rock @ $8.20
Comprising three signature ice cream flavours, Hazelnut, Cookies ‘N’ Cream and Rocky Road, this sundae is garnished with marshmallow sauce, hot caramel, cocoa pops and wafers from Italy. Otherwise known as Alcatraz Island located at San Francisco Bay, The Rock was originally developed to house the federal prison. To create the famous sea fog of San Francisco Bay cast over Alcatraz Island, this dessert is served on a bed of dry ice!
Ice Cream Sandwich OS (of Swensen’s) @ $7.90)
Satisfy your sweet tooth with this unique Ice Cream Sandwich made of smooth Vanilla ice cream sandwiched between yummy handmade chocolate cookies that can be dipped into our special warm chocolate sauce for a heavenly treat. Comes complete with a cookie robot – great for the kids!
If the above are still not enough, indulge yourself in their all you can eat ice cream & dessert buffet at $18.90 (adult) and $13.90 (kids below 12 years old) in their Ion Orchard branch. Order a main course and your ice cream buffet will be at $12.90 instead. I love their Durain Gelato and Dark Chocolate.
You will be spoilt with the seemingly endless ice-cream flavors
Dessert Station - oreo cheese cake, apple tart, chocolate pecan pie etc
There are also waffles and different types of toppings to match your tastes for ice-cream
More topping and chocolate fondue with marshmallows and brownie
The special Chop Shop Station
Choose your flavors of ice cream and they will chop and mix all the flavors with your favorite toppings to create your own unique ice-cream flavor!
- My Opinion
If I have to pick my favourite, it will be the Crabmeat Fried Rice - so homely that I missed my mum cooking! The Laksa Aglio Olio with King Prawns is very unique, nice spice fragrant but don't taste like the usual laksa.
Swensen never fail to surprise the adults and kids with their new creation. With the wide variety of menus and more than 40 ice cream flavors, what excuse do you have not to visit Swensen?
Thanks Tiffany for having us on 25 June 2012! And Charlene you too!
